Walgreens Boots Alliance

Walgreens Boots Alliance is an Illinois-based retail pharmacy and wholesale pharmaceutical multinational and the parent company of such drugstore chains as Walgreens and Boots. The company was formed in 2014 after Walgreens purchased the remaining 55% of Alliance Boots. The company’s Walgreens division employs over 225,000 workers and operates more than 9,000 drugstores in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In early 2021, the company announced a partnership with the U.S. government to administer COVID-19 vaccines in long-term-care facilities and at its pharmacies. By mid-February, Walgreens had administered more than 3 million doses.
